Then James asked, “Do either of you know anything about Mr. Leonardo Ferretti?”

Francesca blinked. “Oh… the man in Ms. Mancini’s bedroom?”

“We have no idea who he is,” Paolo said, “but I did hear something about him from Enzo. He seems to know him.”

Francesca chimed in, “Yeah, Enzo mentioned once that Mr. Ferretti was some kind of investor — from a private military company, I think? And that he had some business with Ms. Mancini. Not too sure about the details, though.”

Paolo added, his tone uneasy, “But I was kinda surprised to see them both… murdered. At the same time, and in her bedroom? I didn’t think it was that kind of connection.”

James tucked the slip of paper with Enzo’s address into his coat pocket. “Thank you,” he said again, then paused near the front door. “One last question before I go— when you first arrived at the villa this morning… did you have the key with you?”

Francesca shook her head. “No, we didn’t. We never had one until we found the spare key.”

Paolo added, “We were told that someone will let us in. Either Ms or Mr. Mancini.”

James’s gaze lingered on the two of them for a moment, the wheels clearly turning in his head. “I see.”

He nodded and thanked the couple before making their way back to the entrance and then to the car.

Once inside, James turned to Alice. “They seem to be telling the truth. I’m almost certain their timeline checks out.”

Alice nodded thoughtfully. “That means we’ve got a new person on the list — Enzo, Vittoria's personal chauffer.”

James tapped his fingers on his lap. “And we haven’t yet visited Giovanni — the accountant and business advisor. He lives right next door, in the hotel.”
